AMD FX-8150 at 7926 MHz - TeamPCLab.pl and guests

Hello!
The Bulldozers are finally here and despite all shortcomings you can still have lots of fun with them. We put a press sample of FX-8150 under LN2 to try maximum validation speed. Two guests joined us for a benching party: Kamil Grzbiecik and XtremeAddict.

Kamil Grzbiecik and Yotomeczek working on BIOS settingsBenching rig consisted of:
AMD FX-8150 press sample
ASUS Crosshair V Formula bios 9911
GoodRAM PRO DDR3-2000 CL7
Enermax Revo85+ 850 W

Yotomeczek was operating the RC TweakIT, Kamil Grzbiecik - validation key, G.Foyle - bios and LN2 pot.

We were able to reach 7926 MHz validation:

Core 3. (1st of module 2) was significantly better than other - no other would reach even 7500 MHz.
During max validation run cores 1 and 3 were enabled, and core 1 was set to x24 multi.

Of course we won't settle for anything less than the big 8 - another benching session with a new CPU is coming :)

Gigabyte X58A-OC pre review :)

Gigabyte is in attack lately. Some new - interesting motherboards on market in short time.
One of special X58 is X58A-OC - mobo for overclocking :)

So this is our first impression with Gigabyte X58A-OC...Gigabyte X58A-OC is a specyfic motherboard. It's for overclockers - nobody even tries to sell it to gamers. There is only equipment that you need for OC.

Big CPU power section (12 fases and max 600A) - very easy to isolate :)

This is what Overclockers like :)

More power from 2x 8Pin

Hmm ... absolute minimum

Solid cooling is always needed

We didn't like this much

A bit cheap looking

It's time to say a word about performance.
We compare Gigabyte in 32M Super Pi and it is not bad. This board needs to tweak memory settings manually. In semi auto (main timings) make Gigabyte X58A-OC not as fast as ASUS :)

ASUS did 32M in 11m11.035

Gigabyte did 32M in 11m12.018 (first we saw something like 11m13s+, but we changed settings performance to extreme and there was a small improvement)

Soon You will find full review on PCLab.pl ;)

MSI GTX 580 Lightning is here

After our victory at MOA 2011 Poland we were given nice new gear to practice before EMEA finals: MSI Big Bang Marshall motherboard and MSI GTX 580 Lightning VGA.
The card is still hot as it has been officially released just few days ago.

Read more to see more pics and features.Newest member of Lightning family looks much like a GTX 480 Lightning. PCB is a bit taller again, but component layout and cooling assembly look very similar.

There is no backplate, but front heat-plate is still present, stiffening the PCB.

MSI seems to be content with their extreme overclocking feature set, because it remains unchanged from GTX 480 Lightning: we have measuring points for three voltages (Vgpu, Vpll and Vddr), several microswitches allowing you to disable OCP or improve voltage ranges and a bigger switch acting as a BIOS selector (you can choose between 24/7 settings and special LN2 BIOS with cold-slow disabled and increased voltage adjustment ranges)

We know we said it a few times in the past, but results and naked PCB pics are coming later this week :) Stay tuned.
